Mahone’s Division Badge

Though the Confederacy and its Army’s never adopted a system of unit designating insignia similar to the Federal Army Corps Badges evidence suggests that various units within the Army of Northern Virginia that were designated as sharpshooters did wear insignia to designate themselves from the common soldier.  

Mahone’s Brigade wore such an Insignia to which it later became the General’s personal crest during the post war years.
